Summer at the Lake
Warm Weather | Harbor Waves | Fun in the Sun
It's Time to Get Away!
Summer has finally arrived! Grab your gear and get to The Abbey Resort for lakeside fun from the minute you check in the the moment you say goodbye. Fill your days with family activities, delicious dining, poolside relaxation, and live entertainment - and that's just at the resort. There's plenty to experience around the area as well, from boat cruises to magic shows, shopping to hiking, and everything in between. Start planning your Lake Geneva vacation now and make it a summer to remember.
After a year of unique stresses, the same boring walls, and more Zoom meetings than you can count, now's the time to break away and enjoy a change of scenery on 90 acres of lakeside property. Start your planning here by checking out all of the things we have to do at the resort, then expand your schedule with things to do in the area. With so many things to do, you'll never hear "I'm bored!" while you're here.
Pick Your Path to the Perfect Escape
Whether you seek an itinerary full of new adventures, a quiet getaway and change of scenery, or a mixture of anything and everything, The Abbey Resort is the perfect starting point for your Lake Geneva summer experience.
Get Your Adrenaline Pumping
If the phrase "Slow Down" isn't in your vocabulary, you might want to try some activities that keep you going while you're here. Rent a beautiful Cobalt Boat from Gordy's on-site rental office and get out on the clear waters of the spring-fed lake. You can add a wakeboard or tube to the rental to make it even more thrilling.
If you're more into the exhilaration of challenging yourself and seeing new sights, spend some time at Lake Geneva Ziplines & Adventures to take on the ropes course or soar through the trees.
Prefer seeing things at ground level? Take a drive through Safari Lake Geneva and get an up close and personal experience with exotic animals from the best seat in the house - your own car.
Head Into the Great Outdoors
The temps are warmer and the days are longer, so take advantage of the time by getting out into the fresh air. The Lake Geneva Shore Path is located just steps away from our resort and can provide a walk that lasts a half hour or even a full day. Explore some or all of the 26 mile public pathway around the lake that passes by historic homes, beautiful gardens and local wildlife.
Make a splash and soak in the sun at one of our outdoor pools, or head to the Fontana Beach which is known by locals to be the best beach on the lake - only a block away from our front doors.
Take in the flora and fauna at one of the many nature preserves or public parks in the area, or if you prefer your nature a bit more manicured, book a tee time at Abbey Springs Golf Course overlooking the lake.
Relax and Unwind
For some people, the ultimate way to get away is with their feet up, listening to great music, cold beverage in hand, watching the world go by. If this sounds more like your speed, finding a way to decompress and escape is easy! The perfect place to start is at our own Avani Spa, which offers a full menu of relaxing services along with an adult-only indoor pool, full-service salon, outdoor cabanas and more. Spend a few hours or the day to reset your mind.
Take a tour of the lake on one of the beautifully restored boats of Lake Geneva Cruise Line's fleet. Their public tours run every day of the week with guided narration and sometimes entertainment, cocktails or even ice cream.
Speaking of entertainment, we have music venues just minutes away that boast some of the most popular tribute bands in the Midwest and occasionally some of the original acts themselves. Check out the lineups at Belfry Music Theatre and Music by the Lake and purchase your tickets before they sell out!
Let Your Taste Buds Guide You
Let's face it - food brings us together. Laughter is shared over drinks and memories are made around the table. The Lake Geneva area offers so many options and flavors, you'll have to return time and time again to try them all. Start at our own 240 West for fresh farm-to-fork dining with stellar harbor views, or enjoy the homegrown flavors, local brews and live entertainment at Waterfront.
Want to learn more about the stories and processes behind some of your favorite drinks? Visit one of the local breweries, distilleries or vineyards for a little education and a lot of delicious flavor. Go even deeper and sign up for a cooking class at the Lake Geneva School of Cooking.
Get a true taste of the area by visiting one of our local farmers markets in the communities that run many days during the week and pick up fresh produce, locally-made jams and jellies and even unique gift items.
