Wine Pairings and Gourmet Fare Warm up Winter at The Abbey Resort
The Abbey presents two affairs featuring champagne, wine and sumptuous vittles
FONTANA, Wis. – January 21, 2011– This February, The Abbey Resort & Spa is hosting two elegant Abbey Uncorked evenings. On Valentine's Day weekend, guests are invited to indulge their senses with their special someone at Abbey Uncorked: Sugar & Champagne. The following weekend's wine tasting, Abbey Uncorked: Riesling and Eiswein, will transport guests to Germany's finest wineries, as select regional dishes compliment each sip.

We're also excited to offer such a fun event during Valentine's Day weekend with a special package just for couples."
At Abbey Uncorked: Sugar & Champagne on Saturday, Feb. 12, beginning at 7 p.m., guests are invited to sip choice champagne and nibble on decadent desserts in the company of the one they love. As the intimate evening unfolds, guests will be presented with a sampling of premium champagne paired with sweet treats, all while listening to the soothing sounds of the guitar.
Looking to give more love that weekend? The Abbey also offers a special Valentine's Day package complete with this event as a dessert course following a four-course Valentines Prix Fixe dinner in the Fontana Grill, which has seating at 5:30, 6 or 6:30 p.m. The package includes overnight accommodations, a four-course decadent meal and the Abbey Uncorked: Sugar & Champagne for just $259 per couple plus tax and resort fee.
Admission to just the Abbey Uncorked: Sugar & Champagne is $20 per person, including 10 tasting tokens and complimentary dessert tasting, or $10 per person for non-drinking/designated driver admission without sampling tokens. Guests who dine in the Fontana Grill prior to Sugar & Champagne will receive two additional tasting tokens.
Since its Valentine's Day weekend, the romance doesn't stop there. The Abbey also offers horse-drawn carriage rides from 4-7 p.m. on Feb. 12 and 5-8 p.m. Feb. 14. Guests can bundle up and snuggle up underneath a warm blanket while enjoying the views of the iconic Lake Geneva for just $30 per 20-minute ride. Advance reservations are recommended.
Abbey Uncorked: Riesling and Eiswein begins at 4 p.m. Feb. 19 as a gourmet fete led by Sarah Joiner from Left Bank wines. The event will guide guests on a culinary journey through Germany's renowned vineyards

while sampling regional Artisan cheese and specialty dishes, as prepared by The Abbey's own Executive Chef Steve Walters. In addition, Chef Walters will lead an instructional cooking demonstration and teach guests how they can recreate the dishes at home.
Admission to Riesling and Eiswein is $30 per person, including 10 tasting tokens and complimentary food tasting, or $20 per person for non-drinking/designated driver admission without sampling tokens.
