Head to The Abbey Resort for the Uncorked: Sugar and Champagne event

FONTANA, Wis. – January 23, 2012 –The Abbey Resort & Spa, located on the shores of Lake Geneva, will host “Uncorked: Sugar and Champagne” with delectable dessert and wine pairings from around the world on Feb. 11.

Guests will enjoy select wine pairings as well as learn different culinary pleasures that compliment each wine selection. The event takes place from 6:30 - 10 p.m. The Abbey Resort is offering special room packages starting at $229 per couple per night (plus tax and resort fee) and includes admission to the event. If a room package has not been purchased, admission is $30 and includes 10 tasting tokens and complimentary tastings. Additional tokens may be purchased for just $2 each.

“We’re thrilled to host this affordable event and offer our guests the opportunity to sample a wide variety of wines in a beautiful, relaxed setting,” said Lori Sunie, director of food and beverage at The Abbey Resort. “This is the perfect dessert course for those dining out for Valentine’s Day. Guests can stay the whole weekend or simply make it a romantic and festive night.”

Along with wine sampling, participants can view demonstrations by The Abbey’s Executive Chef Steve Walters. The Abbey’s culinary team will be whipping up dozens of delectable desserts including truffles, petite fours, and candied cakes. The Abbey Resort also will offer an “Uncorked Wine Shop” where two featured wines from the event will be available for purchase at reduced event prices. For guests who opt not to drink alcohol or for designated drivers’ admission is $10 and does not include sampling tokens.

The Abbey will continue the “Uncorked” series March 17 with “Uncorked: Beer & Whiskey,” featuring Pit Master Matthew Whiteford, owner of LOVE YOUR BBQ. The event features a barbecue cook-off, live music and a beer and whiskey tasting.
